Gatlinburg is my mother's and maternal grandmother's favorite vacation spot and was my late sister's, probably is my third favorite after Sarasota and Orlando.
And no, the Pancake Pantry did not compensate me to endorse them. They are really that amazing I highly recommend you dine there, no visit to Gatlinburg is complete without dining there! If you've never been there, you must try them out! My family has been dining there for nearly half a century, and two or three of the former waitresses there before they retired knew my mother, my maternal grandmother, my late sister (before she took her life), my younger brother, and myself BY NAME! They even know / knew what my mother, my maternal grandmother, and my late sister are / were going to order between one of two orders: Orange Walnut Pancakes or Peach Delight Crepes. Try one of them. You will not be disappointed. Hell, try ANY of their flavors, you will not be disappointed! Unless you're allergic to wheat or gluten-sensitive. :( Believe me, I feel you, I have a wheat allergy myself. It sucks. This is one of the few places I feel compelled to cheat. Some people can't cheat, they have worse reactions than I do, such as people with Celiac. I think they have gluten-free buttermilk now, at least at their two locations in Nashville.
