If you're on psychotropics, it may be a good idea to best limit or avoid:
Alcohol
Limit or avoid with benzodiazepines (like Ativan and Xanax) and some antidepressants (like Lexapro and Effexor). Probably anti-psychotics as well although not as sure about them. Not sure what all to be honest. Best to avoid or limit with all psychotropics. If you enjoy alcohol in moderation, or are celebrating a special occasion, I’d recommend you limit yourself to ONE 1 1/2 ounce shot of liquor, 5 ounce glass of wine, or 12 ounce beer; maybe two if you’re my size or bigger (I’m 6’ 1” and over 300 pounds), otherwise, the Grim Reaper may invite himself to your dinner party like he did on Monty Python’s “The Meaning of Life”. And absolutely don’t chug beer up your ass like some college frat boys do, the bioavailability is much higher than it is through the mouth and stomach.
Benadryl
Again, pretty much common sense. Avoid entirely at all cost, especially with benzodiazepines. Especially if you’re driving. I’m surprised it’s legal to drive under the influence of Benadryl! It should NOT be! In my personal opinion, I think Benadryl is worse to drive under than Ativan or Xanax!
Nyquil
Well, if I said avoid or limit alcohol, and completely avoid Benadryl, and I said it was completely alright to consume Nyquil in any quantity, that would probably make about as much sense as tits on a bull wouldn’t it? No shit Sherlock!
Grapefruit juice
Other citrus (orange, lemon, etc.) juices are fine, just not grapefruit. Not sure what it is about grapefruit, but it's just not a very good idea to mix it with psychotropics, especially benzos. Increases benzodiazepine potency by 85%. Basically, a 2 mg Ativan or Xanax becomes 3.75 mg (may as well call it 4 mg). Maybe some of you I should not have shared that with…
Tagamet
Slows absorption of benzodiazepines. Basically, increases half-life so they stay in your system longer and build up in your blood stream more. Probably should not have shared that either. Damn.
Some Opioids
Especially when operating a motor vehicle. If you absolutely require an opioid for pain, for the love of God, DON’T DRIVE! Or you may end up meeting Him! Or the devil, either or!
