GRIEF AND LOSS

"No parent should have to bury their child"

- King Théoden

His words are, in my opinion, so true.  No parent, or sibling (especially older or twin sibling) should have to bury their child or younger or twin sibling.  Especially from suicide.  Especially when they are so young and had their whole life ahead of them!

That's what happened with my late sister, as you will read in my book "The Devil Went Down to Tennessee" and on my news entry from April 5, 2024.

Suicide does not end the pain.  It passes it onto someone else.

Fact is, I am very fortunate to be alive.

I would not be were it not be for my maternal grandmother.

She indubitably saved my life on July 1, 2016.

It is even more of a miracle I am cured of suicidal intent and attempts now.

Statistics say that sufferers Post-traumatic Stress Disorder are 100 times more likely than people who do not suffer from PTSD and that sufferers of advanced forms of depression (bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder) are 30 times more likely to attempt or commit suicide than people who do not suffer from depression.  Members of the LGBTQ community are 8 times more likely to attempt or commit suicide than straight people.  And men are 4 times more likely to attempt or commit suicide than women.  Multiply 8 X 30 X 100, and you will see I am 24,000 times more likely to attempt than a straight man who does not suffer from depression or PTSD!  There are 14 suicides per 100,000 in the USA annually.  This statistic states I would pretty much be guaranteed a 100% chance to take my life at one chance or another!  And yet, I have no more intent.
