DEPRESSION

I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder in 2010 by my all-time favorite psychiatrist, and re-diagnosed at Lakeside in 2016 following my fourth suicide attempt with Bipolar Disorder.

Bipolar Disorder is the same illness that Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia from Star Wars), Robin Williams, and Kurt Cobain (front man from Nirvana) all suffered from.

My depression is worse than my mania, I almost never have a manic episode.  When I am in mania, it's just hypomania.  It is somewhat controlled.

My depression is extremely dark.  I have had six suicide attempts.  You can read about it in my book "The Devil Went Down to Tennessee".

Statistics say that sufferers of advanced forms of depression (bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder) are 30 times more likely to attempt or commit suicide than people who do not suffer from depression.  Members of the LGBTQ community are 8 times more likely to attempt or commit suicide than straight people.  And men are 4 times more likely to attempt or commit suicide than women.

I am prescribed Wellbutrin, Lexapro, and Abilify for it.
